AT&T and NRG Co-Host CIS at Inspiring Futures
AT&T and The Northridge Group co-hosted a Communities in Schools of Chicago (CIS) mentoring event called Inspiring Futures.
CIS is a dropout prevention organization annually serving 70,000 Chicago Public School students from Chicago’s most under-resourced communities. Northridge has been a long-time supporter of their work, which aligns with our philanthropic focus on children, education and youth leadership. Natural synergies also exist between the goals of CIS and AT&T’s Believe Chicago initiative to improve lives and lift Chicago’s neighborhoods.
The AT&T/NRG Inspiring Futures program is a lunchtime mentoring experience for 12-15 CPS middle school students. Many CPS students have never been to a downtown office building or engaged in a mentoring experience prior to participating in this program. This opportunity allows students to be exposed to various careers and learn about professionalism in the workplace. It allows them to dream big and is meant to inspire them to reach for their goals and to start thinking about how to achieve them.
The school that CIS chose to participate in this event is from one of AT&T’s 19 Believe Chicago neighborhoods (South Chicago).
